RSC Clock: A Browser Toolbar Clock Extension With Digital & Analog Views

RSC Clock is the free Browser Toolbar Clock Extension I built for the exact moment you look up from a deep-work tab and have no idea what time it is — or worse, no idea what time it is for the client three zones away. No more opening a new tab, no more mental math on "their time is my time minus five." Click the icon once and see your local time plus up to two other zones, in a digital or fully-numbered analog view, styled with your own colors and fonts. One permission, nothing else — it runs entirely in your browser, syncs your settings through your browser's own account, and never phones home. No sign-up, no server, no tracking, no alarms or notifications competing for your attention.

Also works on Edge, Brave, Opera & Vivaldi. Source available for review on GitHub — see how to install below.

How to Install RSC Clock

One click from the official store for your browser, confirm the single permission it asks for, and you're done — no restart, no config file, nothing else to set up. Updates install themselves automatically from then on, so it just keeps working.

Everything a Toolbar Clock Should Have Done From the Start

Most toolbar clocks stop at "shows the time," then bury it behind extra clicks or pile on alarms and stopwatches you never asked for. RSC Clock is built to be quiet by design — styled the way you'd actually want to glance at it dozens of times a day, and it never asks for more access than the one thing it needs to remember your settings.

  • Digital & Analog Views

Switch between a clean digital readout and a fully-numbered analog face — all 12 numbers shown, not just dots or minimalist markers.

  • World Clock, 2 Extra Zones

Add two more timezone slots alongside your local time — built for anyone coordinating calls or deadlines across time zones.

  • 12/24-Hour & Seconds Toggle

Switch between 12-hour (with AM/PM) and 24-hour format, and turn the seconds display on or off, independently.

  • Light, Dark, or Auto Theme

Pick a theme, or set it to Auto and let it follow your system's own light/dark preference automatically.

  • Custom Colors

Quick-pick swatches for both the background and the clock face itself — make it match your browser, not fight it.

  • Custom Fonts

Roboto Mono, Orbitron, Share Tech Mono, or your system default — pick whichever reads best to you at a glance.

  • No Tracking, No Account

RSC Clock asks for exactly one permission — storage — and nothing else. No analytics, no external server, no sign-up.

  • Settings Sync, Built In

RSC Clock's settings sync through the browser's own storage.sync — no account of mine required, no data ever touches my servers.

Digital for a quick glance, analog when you want it to actually look like a clock on your wall, not a widget.

Frequently Asked Questions About RSC Clock

The questions people actually ask before installing a Browser Toolbar Clock Extension — permissions, privacy, and which browsers it supports.

Is RSC Clock really free?
Yes, completely — no trial, no premium tier, no ads. I built this Browser Toolbar Clock Extension because I wanted a clean toolbar clock myself and every option I found was either bare-bones or asked for permissions it had no business needing.
What permissions does RSC Clock need, and why?
Exactly one: storage. That's it — used only to remember your settings (theme, timezones, format) locally and sync them through your browser's own account, the same mechanism your bookmarks sync through. No tracking, no analytics script, no external server call, ever.
Is my data or settings sent to your servers?
No. There's no server involved at all. RSC Clock's settings live in the browser's built-in storage.sync — the same private, Google/Mozilla-run sync every extension with this permission uses. I never see it, store it, or have access to it.
Can I install RSC Clock without using the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons?
Yes — the source and a packaged zip for both browsers are on GitHub, for anyone who prefers a manual install or wants to review the code first. The store listing is still the recommended path for most people: it handles updates automatically, which a manual zip install doesn't.
Which browsers does RSC Clock work on?
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi all install the same package from the Chrome Web Store listing (anything built on Chromium works the same way). Firefox has its own listing on Firefox Add-ons (AMO).
Do I need to create an account to use RSC Clock?
No account, ever. Your settings sync through your browser's own built-in account (the same one your bookmarks already sync through) — RSC Clock never asks you to sign up for anything of its own.
Can I use more than two extra timezones?
Not yet — v1.0.0 ships with your local time plus two world clock slots, which covers the vast majority of "I work with people in two other time zones" cases without cluttering a small toolbar popup. More slots is on the list if there's real demand for it.
Is RSC Clock open source?
The source is public on GitHub for review and reference, so you can see exactly what it does before installing it. It isn't open for reuse or redistribution under its current license — see the repository for details.
